Vectran Cable Assemblies
Cable Assembly Manufacturing

Applied Fiber Manufacturing provides Vectran cable and improves its strength through both its innovative termination end fitting technology and cable assembly manufacturing technology.

Vectran cable has exceptional strength combined with low stretch and ultra-low creep. The unique stability of Vectran fiber makes it well suited for high load static and dynamic load situations where precision consistent length over an extended period of time is a key factor.

Vectran fiber is made of LCP, liquid crystal polymer, and beyond the high strength and low creep properties it has: high modulus, high melting temperature, great flexibility, exceptional tension and bend fatigue resistance, low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and high dielectric strength.

The fiber can be twisted or braided into a number of cable, line and cord constructions including commonly found steel wire constructions. Vectran Cable is often made up of the core fiber construction with an extruded polymer covering or plastic jacket material to provide added protection from harsh environments.

Termination of high modulus fiber like Vectran cable has long been a great challenge faced by many engineers as the cable will often fail at the termination due to the poor efficiency of the termination method. A knot for example can reduce the cables strength by up to 50% and will seat and slip continuously. When used in tension, cable and cords are only as strong as their end fitting. Applied Fiber provides a highly efficient means to terminate or add end fittings to Vectran cable – producing finished assemblies that are unparalleled and provide exceptional connection versatility.

Applied Fiber utilizes patented technologies to apply end fittings or terminations to Vectran cable and other high modulus fiber cables in a tightly controlled manufacturing environment producing consistent and predictable results that are tested and measured.

Applied Fiber produces precision cut to length and terminated Vectran cable assemblies that can simply drop into its customer’s own products. Applied Fiber provides engineered cable and termination solutions for its customers worldwide. Kuraray, the manufacturer of Vectran fiber, recognizes the technology to maximize strength efficiency of its fiber in a cable or cord application and recommends Applied Fiber as the leading termination and assembly experts.
