Applied Fiber

Core Strength Member

GAIN PERFORMANCE, SAVE COST
Synthetic fiber cables/ropes can now be designed and made to outperform Steel Wire Rope/Cable, rod and chain in nearly every regard. Wide varieties of synthetic fibers and rope constructions allow our engineers to optimize each core strength member to meet the demands of every unique application.  By creating unique solutions to your applications, we can provide optimal performance and cost savings that commodity rope typically sacrifices.

BENEFITS
Take Advantage Of Our Technology

STRONGER
Cables made from High Modulus fibers (See Fiber Options) are typically stronger than equivalent size wire rope/cable.   Lower modulus fibers are not as strong as the high modulus fibers, but offer exceptional dynamic load dampening characteristics.

LIGHTER
Depending on the fiber and construction, the core strength member can be design to be 4-7 times lighter than size and strength equivalent wire rope/cable, chain and rod.

HIGHER FATIGUE RESISTANCE
Most synthetic fibers naturally have higher fatigue resistance over steel wire rope/cable.  By altering the core strength member’s construction, we can engineer significantly higher fatigue resistance.

CORROSION RESISTANCE
Most synthetic strength members will not oxidize (corrode) under natural environmental conditions.

SAFER HANDLING
Due to the weight reduction and the increased flexibility over wire rope/cable, operators can safely handle the synthetic cables, which can significantly reduce the workplace injuries.

IMPROVED EFFICIENCY
Cables requiring handling can be positioned faster and installed quicker, resulting in better time utilization and optimized efficiency when using synthetic cables.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Applied Fiber Engineers design a specific rope that will meet the demands of your application and will consider the following minimum criteria:

  •  Required Strength: Working Loads, Safety Factors, and Regulations
  •  Required Elongation: Balance line control with shock absorption
  •  Required Flexibility: Stiff or flexible
  •  Required Bending Parameters: Sheave Diameters, Cyclic Bending
  •  Environment: Temperature, Chemicals, Humidity, Abrasion and Wear
